  • The castle of Aghia Mavra is located at the entrance of the island, on the peninsula between Lefkada and Akarnania and has an area of approximately 25.000 sqm. Is accessible only from the west gate. In the northern part of the castle is the temple of Aghia Mavra inside the bastion.



  • Archaeological Museum of Lefkada is housed on the ground floor of Lefkada Cultural Center. Among the exhibits it is possible to locate finds and photographs, which are able to give the visitor a more comprehensive picture of the place historically and socially. A major part of the exhibits are findings from the excavation effort of Wilhelm Doerpfeld, who pioneered the search for evidence on the island to prove that Lefkada is Homer's Ithaca. The findings cover a long chronological period, from the Paleolithic to the Roman times



  • Public Library was founded in 1953, succeeding the small library of Lefkada and has a large number of publications and books. Housed in a two-storey neo-classical building, in the heart of the historic center of Lefkada.

  • Phonograph museum is a small private museum located in the center of the city and framed by exhibits consisting of old phonographs, rare objects, discs, decorative photographs and coins.



  • Historical Center of Lafcadio Hearn is located within the cultural center of the municipality of Lefkada and named after Lafcadio Hearn, national poet of the Japanese. Visitor can learn about the life of the poet and important moments of his life through photographic material, texts and exhibits.



  • Folklore museum of the Orpheus group​ is located in the neoclassical privately owned mansion, behind the main square of Lefkada. There are more than a thousand objects of Lefkada’s rural life, tools, traditional costumes and musical instruments. Includes a series of urban exhibits and tools of old professions.
